Garmin GPS Charger In Review
Nothing is worse than finding out that your GPS charger is broken. Okay, there are quite a few things worse, but you know something? It’s still a nuisance. So what do you do when you need a new charger? Well order a new one is often an answer. So here is a review for the Garmin GPS charger as well as a few tips for taking care of the one you have and making sure you are getting the most out of the experience. Garmin makes a very nice GPS and the Garmin GPS charger is an important part of it. Remember that without it you are more or less up a creek without a, well, GPS to help you navigate. If you are like me you’ve become nearly GPS dependant in a lot of ways, so this is not a very good thing. No other charger can take the place of a Garmin GPS charger. This is not a statement based on sentimental blather either. The voltage on these chargers as well as the size of the plug in is specific to the individual unit. A common misconception is that if the plug fits, everything else will go off without a hitch. This theory only works if you have a really small piece of hamburger you would like to grill. NEVER use a charger meant for something else. One other option to the Garmin GPS charger is one of those universal kits. Personally I believe they are a waste of money. These will come with several interchangeable input plugs and several setting for voltage output. For someone who doesn’t know what they are doing they can damage your GPS. You are better off getting a charger specifically for your model. The question is where do you find such a contraption? Well on the World Wide Web of course! In most cases a simple web search will point you in the right direction. You are also assured that with your GPS in hand you can type in the model number and get the type of charger you need. Kind of crazy how that works huh? As promised here are some tips for care of your Garmin GPS charger. First and foremost do not spray your charger with any sort of interior cleaner. Use of “Viking Guy” on the charger is a bad idea because it is ported to allow airflow and keep your charger cool. Blockage of the vents can reduce the airflow and cause the unit to overheat. By the same token, they must be cleaned. Usually a nice dry towel does the job nicely. Also keep your Garmin GPS charger unplugged when not in use. This again, will keep it from overheating. Hopefully, you understand now the importance of having the proper Garmin GPS charger. Again, having the right model for your GPS cannot be stressed enough. Knowing this will keep you safe and on the road going to where you want to go for years to come. Happy travelling! |
